Joseph Delaney was an important African-American folk impressionist painter. He loved NYC as a place to live and a subject to paint. He studied at the Student Art League in NYC with Thomas Hart Benton, Jackson Pollock, George Bridgeman and many others. He is also brother to renowned artist Beauford Delaney.
