Signed and dated lower right

 

A Chicago Modernist, who exhibited at Century Progress in 1933, New York World’s Fair in 1939, Pennsylvania Academy, Carnegie Institute and Brooklyn Museum.  Menzel and Archibald Motley were the only one-man shows given by the Chicago Historical Society in 1990s. He lived with his family in Winnetka, Illinois for many years.
