Major African American sculptor  who studied with artist Grant Wood in Iowa when she was young.  Catlett also studied at the Art Institute of Chicago.  She married Mexican artist Francisco Mora and made Cuernavaca, Mexico her home.
Her work is represented in many collections including MOMA, NYC and MOMA, Mexico, the Library of Congress and the Metropolitan Museum, NYC.
