Dahn studied painting, printmaking and graphic design, receiving a BFA degree from Miami University and an MFA degree from Yale University.He taught graphic design at the University of Washington from 1965 to 1997.  He studied and worked with Joseph Albers at Yale.  Dick and his wife, Barbara, also an artist, spend six months in Seattle and six months a year in Mexico.
