A modernist master of the second half of the 20th Century. He was known for his brilliant color and splotch-like shapes. He was much influenced by Clifford Still and Mark Rothko. Printmaking was as much of an art as painting to Francis.
His works are in. the collections of the Tate, MOMA, the Art Institute of Chicago, and many more.
